Overview

Effective volunteers provide hands-on guidance and know-how that is seen to the needs of the business in a range of business settings. Volunteers use their areas of expertise to support business expectations.

Volunteer positions generally require a time commitment of approximately 3-5 hrs per week, including planning, as well as taking part in meetings, which can be held monthly, bimonthly or quarterly according to the agenda proposed by the Chair.

• Making phone calls to people and organizations that may have individuals that can speak on or offer workshops on topics such as mental health, nonviolence, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, art, music, entertainment, sports, culinary, business, financial literacy, marketing, project management, public speaking, etc…
• Ensuring that on a week to week basis, all workshop facilitators are scheduled, and their slide decks are sent to the translator

(People & Culture) Vendor/Partner Outreach - 2 spots open

• Making phone calls to people and organizations that may have individuals that can set up a table, offer an activation, provide a resource, speak on or offer workshops on topics such as mental health, nonviolence, workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, art, music, entertainment, sports, culinary, business, financial literacy, marketing, project management, public speaking, etc…

• Actively mentoring youth daily via phone call, in person, text, group chat
• Directing youth to different resources & job opportunities based on current needs

(Program Development) Pitch Competition & End of Year Workforce Readiness Festival - 6 spots open

• Finding organizations to gift monetary & non-monetary gifts
• Outreach to judges
• Support any young adults having trouble getting their video submitted
• Ensure all videos & profiles are uploaded into the event app
• Ensure it is being marketed properly
• Outreach to schools to discuss the Pitch Competition
• Determining the layout of the raffle
• Outreach to different organizations to solicit raffle prizes

• Recruiting for team project leads as well as potential projects and hiring opportunities for young adults
• Taking notes and keeping the team on track
• Engaging young adults that may needs support with different tasks
• Supporting the team project lead in planning & logistics
