Illustration Lead

This is a volunteer position for U.S. residents only. We are looking for volunteers to create scientific illustrations to educate a public audience on topics relevant to Aeon for Ocean’s goals and mission. This position offers flexible hours with specific roles and responsibilities defined in collaboration with the Aeon for Ocean team.

Your Impact on our Mission/Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities you will perform as a part of our Team include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with Aeon for Ocean teams to understand the type of art material needed for the website, social media, and marketing presentations
• Create designs/illustrations/logos for our web/mobile apps and physical products
• Work with our education/marketing team to facilitate the branding of consumer-facing elements of our platform
• Conceives and creates illustrations and graphics to accurately and effectively communicate scientific concepts and results for publications, posters, and slide presentations
• Produce various collateral materials ranging from page layouts, cover artwork, infographics, scientific figures, and graphical abstracts
• Brainstorm ideas/issues, and secure guidance and collaboration as needed

What You’ll Bring to the Team/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Passionate about creating awareness, finding and implementing solutions to remediate issues
• Proficient with Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, basic Aftereffects
• A portfolio that demonstrates design ability and creative branding work
• Previous experience with product design related to the ocean and marine life is ideal but not necessary
• Attention to detail, team player, sense of urgency for progress
• Excited about applying technical and artistic skills for building our original media content
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to a general audience and work collaboratively with the Aeon for Ocean marketing, engineering, and business teams
• Location within the 48 contiguous United States is highly preferred

Applicants must also have the ability to attend periodic meetings conducted during regular business hours, and/or evenings and weekends, as needed, in the Central Standard (CST) Time Zone.

Time Commitment:

Please Note -This is a volunteer position for U.S. residents only. We are looking for someone who can dedicate about 6-8 hours per week, and can commit for at least 1 year (though we’d love to have you even longer!).
