Board of Directors (Volunteer) | Unexpected Productions Improv Seattle, WA | Nonprofit | Volunteer
About Unexpected Productions
Unexpected Productions is Seattle's longest-running improv theater, home to Theatresports, short-form and long-form improv, and a growing slate of educational programs and community outreach. Based at the historic Market Theater in Pike Place Market, we've been making Seattle laugh, think, and connect for decades.
We're looking for passionate, engaged individuals to join our Board of Directors and help shape the next chapter of our story.
This Is a Working Board
We don't just need names on a letterhead. We need people who want to roll up their sleeves. Board members serve a two-year term, contributing roughly 1 to 3 hours per month.
What's Involved
Quarterly in-person board meetings (Tuesday evenings) plus one annual strategic planning session. Committee participation, with monthly meetings focused on key initiatives. Committees include Governance/Audit, Board Development/Recruitment, and UP Outreach/Development. Active advocacy: attending shows, spreading the word, and building relationships on behalf of UP. An annual financial contribution at a level you consider generous based on your means. Access to board leadership training, fully covered by Unexpected Productions.
Who We're Looking For
You love the arts and believe in the power of live performance and community. You're a connector: someone who brings energy, relationships, and strategic thinking to the table. You want your volunteer time to actually matter.
Experience in nonprofit governance, fundraising, marketing, law, finance, or community organizing is a plus, but enthusiasm and commitment go a long way here.
