TIME COMMITMENT: August 2026 - June 2027

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The School Administrator is an in-country team member who is crucial to the operation of BECA’s partnership model. They are responsible for the English department of the school which includes: the oversight of school operations, teacher support inside and outside the classroom, school culture and climate and event planning. For these reasons, the School Administrator must be fluent in both Spanish and English, and feel comfortable speaking publicly, engaging in school administration meetings, and having professional conversations with parents, teachers, and other staff in both languages.
REQUIRED DUTIES:
- Serve as administrative leader and BECA representative at Santa Monica Bilingual School;
- Ensure that teachers perform duties in a goal-oriented, culturally sensitive way, and that they act in a way that is consistent with BECA’s mission;
- Support teachers through informal classroom observations, lesson plan verification and support, 1:1 follow ups, school logistics and assistance with pedagogical development and growth;
- Maintain regular communication with our volunteer teachers, the Honduran School Director, and our partners to support clear communication channels and growth of the school and its programs;
- Work in coordination with the Honduran school director to implement the school-wide discipline protocol, build teacher schedules, organize duties, coordinate school events, and plan staff meetings;
- Attend discipline meetings and assist in the development of discipline plans to support teachers and students in the classroom;
- Home school partnerships: work towards creating channels of sharing and feedback to encourage parent involvement including meetings with parents and / or home visits;
- Report to instructional coach on pedagogical data and attend professional development trainings;
- Attend and actively participate in leadership meetings, partner meetings, pedagogical committee meetings and other such events;
- Oversee and direct puntos (student-scholarship) program by organizing the point system and arranging systems for on-going communication and planning with involved parents;
- Communicate regularly with the in-country director to ensure needed supports are in place and to monitor the condition and quality of BECA programs.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree or currently enrolled in University in a relevant field (Education, International Development, Social Studies, Psychology, International Studies) OR corresponding experience in education. Experience with BECA is a considerable advantage;
- No less than 2 years of teaching experience;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation skills, and communication skills;
- Ability to motivate and collaborate with other teachers and leadership team members;
- Results-oriented, with demonstrated skill in using data to inform and improve student learning and school programs;
- Self-motivated, energetic, and creative;
- Ability to give, receive, and grow and learn through feedback.
