(Adult Family Home setting)
We are seeking compassionate, skilled volunteers to support an older adult who is working to document and publish her personal and professional memoir. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone interested in storytelling, writing, editing, or oral history.
About the Participant
- Lives with mild dementia, chronic pain, and anxiety
- Clear in speech and thought, but no longer able to write by hand
- Pioneer in homeopathic medicine with a rich personal and professional history
- Highly motivated to preserve her life story and legacy
- Communicates best when people speak loud and clearly
Volunteer Role
- Provide in‑person visits (no visits on Wednesdays)
- Help by:
- Interviewing the participant about her life experiences
- Recording conversations (audio or voice‑to‑text)
- Transcribing, organizing, and editing material
- Assisting with consolidating writings toward self‑publication
- Work collaboratively with the participant and care team
- This role may be ideal for more than one volunteer, if available
Volunteer Preferences
- Comfortable working with older adults and memory loss
- Experience or interest in:
- Writing, editing, publishing, journalism, or oral history
- Memoir or life‑story work
- Homeopathic or alternative medicine (a bonus, not required)
- Patient, respectful, and dependable
