    Volunteer Recruiting & Talent Team

Remote | United States | Unpaid Volunteer | Team-Based Opportunity

Help Build the Team That Will Help Build the Mission

“And of some have compassion, making a difference.” — Jude 1:22

The Animal Cause, Inc. is building a volunteer-powered organization designed to serve vulnerable animals through rescue, transport, animal care, visibility, partnerships, fundraising, and programs that help animals move from crisis toward better outcomes.

None of that can be built by one person.

The organization we are building requires people with different skills, experiences, and callings working together.

The Volunteer Recruiting & Talent Team helps us find those people, understand where they can contribute, and move qualified applicants through a structured process toward appropriate volunteer opportunities.

This is not simply an administrative recruiting position.

It is an opportunity to help build the human infrastructure of the organization.

    The team will help turn:

    “I want to help animals.”

    into:

“Here is where I can serve, here is what I can do, and here is how I can contribute effectively.”

What the Team Will Help Build

The Volunteer Recruiting & Talent Team will help establish a consistent process for:

    • Identifying prospective volunteers
    • Reviewing incoming applications
    • Understanding applicants' skills and experience
    • Matching people with appropriate areas of need
    • Communicating with applicants
    • Coordinating interviews
    • Supporting the onboarding process
    • Tracking applicant progress
    • Following up on incomplete steps
    • Identifying promising candidates
    • Recognizing when additional screening is needed
    • Building a pipeline of future volunteers and volunteer leaders

As The Animal Cause grows, the team will help create a recruiting process that can operate consistently without every applicant requiring the founder's direct attention from beginning to end.

    How We Work

The Animal Cause is intentionally organized around specialized volunteer teams.

The Recruiting & Talent Team may collaborate with:

    • Project Managers / Execution Coordinators
    • Department Leads
    • Learning & Development
    • Communications
    • Digital Media
    • Fundraising
    • Technology & AI
    • Animal Care
    • Foster & Placement
    • Transport
    • Mercy Stage
    • Other developing teams and departments

A recruiting team member may therefore work with applicants who have expertise in areas completely different from their own.

Your job is not to know everything the organization needs.

Your job is to help identify what someone brings, document it accurately, and help connect that person with the appropriate team or next step.

    Core Responsibilities

Depending upon your skills and assignment, you may help:

    Applicant Coordination

    • Review incoming volunteer applications
    • Confirm required forms have been completed
    • Send professional follow-up messages
    • Track applicants through the recruiting process
    • Maintain accurate applicant records
    • Identify incomplete applications

    Applicant Organization

    Help categorize applicants according to:

    • Skills
    • Professional experience
    • Availability
    • Interests
    • Geographic considerations
    • Desired level of involvement
    • Potential team placement

    Interview Support

    • Coordinate interview scheduling
    • Prepare interview information
    • Maintain interview notes
    • Help identify questions appropriate to an applicant's background
    • Document follow-up items
    • Escalate concerns to the appropriate leadership

    Onboarding Support

After appropriate approval, team members may help:

    • Send onboarding information
    • Confirm required agreements
    • Track onboarding completion
    • Help connect volunteers with their assigned team
    • Monitor completion of initial assignments
    • Identify volunteers who need additional support

    Volunteer Pipeline Development

Over time, the team may also help identify:

    • Emerging team leaders
    • Project Managers
    • Specialized subject-matter experts
    • Future department coordinators
    • Volunteers who may be appropriate for expanded responsibility

    Commitment

    Approximately 3–5 hours per week

During active recruiting periods, some team members may contribute 5–8 hours per week.

    Remote volunteer opportunity.

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity and does not create an employment relationship.

Volunteers may be required to complete applicable volunteer, confidentiality, intellectual-property, and access-control agreements.

    How to Apply

    Please provide:

    • Resume or LinkedIn profile
    • Brief statement of interest
    • Relevant experience
    • Realistic weekly availability
    • Any recruiting, coordination, administrative, nonprofit, ministry, or animal-welfare experience

    Screening Questions

    1. Are you at least 21 years old?
    2. Are you a citizen and currently located in the United States?
    3. Are you willing to support a Christian animal-welfare mission?
    4. Do you understand that this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity?
    5. Can you realistically commit at least 3 hours per week?
    6. Are you comfortable working as part of a specialized volunteer team rather than independently controlling the entire recruiting process?
    7. Have you worked in recruiting, volunteer coordination, HR, administration, customer service, project coordination, or another role requiring organized follow-up?
    8. What experience or skill would you bring to a Volunteer Recruiting & Talent Team?
    9. Tell us about a time you had to keep track of multiple people, tasks, applications, customers, projects, or deadlines. How did you stay organized?
    10. Why do you want to use your skills in service of The Animal Cause, Inc.?

    Our Biblical Foundation

“And of some have compassion, making a difference.” — Jude 1:22

We believe building a team is itself an act of stewardship.

God does not call every person to the same work. Scripture describes many members with different functions, working together toward a common purpose.

The Recruiting & Talent Team exists to help identify those different gifts and place them where they can serve effectively.

We are not merely filling volunteer positions. We are helping people discover where their abilities can be used in service to God's creation and the mission He has entrusted to us.

The work belongs to God. We are entrusted to serve faithfully.

    About The Animal Cause, Inc.

The Animal Cause, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Christian animal-welfare organization working to save shelter animals, support efforts to reduce shelter overpopulation, preserve life, and build systems that help vulnerable animals move from crisis toward care, rehabilitation, visibility, and responsible placement.

    Compassion. Stewardship. Advocacy.
