OC Bike Camp 2026 - Help Individuals with disabilities learn to ride a bike
Detalhes
Descrição
OC BIKE CAMP is a bike riding training program sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County with technical support from iCanBike. Using specialized bikes and a proven technique, this camp helps individuals with special needs learn to ride bikes (can you imagine being 12 or 15, or even 20 and not learning to ride a bike?). The riders attend a daily 75-minute training session to overcome the fear of falling and learn to balance, steer, brake, etc.

Volunteers will work in pairs with the same rider all week and walk or jog alongside the rider in the beautiful air-conditioned Soka Univeristy Gym (Aliso Viejo) until their rider can ride a two-wheeler on their own. Thenvolunteers will accompany their riders outside to spot them as they ride in the parking lot for more practice.
