Volunteering with Compassus Hospice offers many ways to support patients and families, including both direct and behind-the-scenes roles. Some volunteers visit patients or provide caregiver support, while others help through phone calls, card writing, creative projects, or administrative assistance.
We work with each volunteer to identify a role that fits their interests, comfort level, and availability. Opportunities range from in-person to fully remote, and from patient-facing to quiet support work.
All volunteers receive free training and orientation. Orientation covers the hospice philosophy of care, communication guidelines, confidentiality, and role-specific expectations so volunteers feel prepared and supported.
No medical background is required. We look for people who are reliable, respectful, and willing to offer presence in ways that feel manageable and appropriate. Even a few hours a month can provide meaningful support to patients, families, and the care team.
