Project Leaders are expected to put in a minimum of 8 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Senior Multimedia Specialist will work closely with the Marketing team, Curriculum Development and Education Content teams, and be responsible for the design and development of multimedia materials to support the needs of the Education Group.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs and produces multimedia content needed to support ongoing projects and education initiatives.
- Develops customized multimedia materials to support joint digital fundraising and public awareness campaigns in collaboration with the Education Group and other groups at Save the Water, potentially including any external partners.
- Manage multimedia projects and delegate tasks to Multimedia Specialist(s).
- Work directly with the Curriculum Development and Education Content teams, in consultation with Managers, Associate Directors, and Directors in creating digital designs and engaging content.
- Ensure compliance with: copyright and intellectual property, quality assurance, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or its equivalent in the development of instructional media materials.
- Supports Curriculum Development and Education Content teams in the integration and creation of interactive digital media to support outreach and engagement via online and mobile platforms and applications, creating advertising content for social media, presentations, tutorials, media files, and dynamic content for email, web, and virtual environments.
- Utilizes emerging technologies to create interactive customer experiences.
- Support User Experience (UX) Design by developing digital content that prospective students, parents, educators, and donors interact with (click, watch, subscribe, like, share) in collaboration with Curriculum Development members and the Instructional Designer.
- Support Donor Experience (DX) by developing digital content that meets information and engagement needs, and provides donors and patrons with positive experiences with media pertaining to the Save The Water™ brand.
- Collaborate on producing documentation and presentations for Education materials required to support digital fundraising and public awareness initiatives, partnerships, and special projects.
- Communicate with Multimedia Specialist(s) and other team members to ensure timely completion and delivery of digital media content development projects.
- The incumbent will work with the Curriculum Development Manager and subject matter experts to develop digital fundraising and public awareness materials (videos, presentations, tutorials, infographics, GIFS, etc.). Working collaboratively, the incumbent will participate in consultative decision-making regarding the integration of digital media content to support curriculum development and public awareness activities.
- The incumbent will design specific education and/or materials that will be part of campaigns, including storyboard development, and integrating content with media elements which will facilitate and support the donor, student, and educator engagement process.
- The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Curriculum Development and Education Content teams to support digital fundraising and public awareness strategies that integrate digital media technologies.
- Be willing to attend virtual meetings in the EST timezone (GMT -4:00) and respond to emails within 36 hours.
Content Design and Development
- Designs and produces multimedia digital content required to support digital outreach and engagement initiatives. This position is focused on the development of digital content, including educational videos, promotional images for email and social media campaigns, virtual environments, and webinar presentation slides. The position requires strong project management and decision-making skills as well as specialization in effective multimedia production and content. The goals include spreading awareness as well as promoting audience engagement on digital advertising platforms and social media channels.
- Consult with the graphic designers and illustrators on the design of artwork for multimedia public awareness and education materials. Customize approved templates for different platforms in consultation with the Curriculum Development Manager and other relevant stakeholders. The incumbent provides technical and creative advice and assistance to satisfy stakeholder needs and meet audience requirements while meeting Save The Water™’s brand standards. The incumbent is responsible for the core duties in this category daily:
- Produce engaging content for Education Group digital and social media channels.
- Design customized digital materials requested by the Curriculum Development Manager for digital media projects.
- Create and edit videos from pre-production to post-production for online distribution.
- Assist in producing media, i.e. video interviews, instructional videos, etc.
- Develop innovative, creative, and original design ideas for multimedia public awareness and education materials (i.e., ads, videos, GIFs, testimonials, virtual booths).
- Search for creative commons and royalty-free digital assets such as stock photos, videos, vectors, etc.
- Develop eye-catching digital content that students, parents, educators, and partners interact with (click, watch, subscribe, like, share).
- Design digital media that encourages interactive donor and/or student/ educator experiences utilizing content created by the Education Group.
Digital Media Engagement Support
- Collaborate with the team in resolving roadblocks and support planning and decision-making; work with the Curriculum Development team as needed to develop solutions and initiatives to achieve project goals.
- Use media databases to find, store, and send files (Google Drive, etc.).
- Support multimedia presentations, virtual conferences, consultations, e-courses, and meetings with members of the Education Group and external partners. Collaborate with team members in other Groups at Save the Water on digital engagement activities.
- Support the Education Group in maintaining brand standards set by the Marketing department. The incumbent maintains the organization’s visual identity, colors, graphic elements, text on-screen styles, etc. to maintain a strong and cohesive brand in all digital content.
Research and Analysis
- Review current digital media content, and identify ways to make materials more engaging, and optimized for targeted audiences and platforms.
- Research emerging technologies, new media, and design solutions and share recommendations, inspiration, and examples of engaging media.
- Update knowledge and skills; keep abreast of new tools and technologies.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage multimedia project needs and timelines in close communication with Multimedia Specialist(s), the Curriculum Development Manager, and other stakeholders.
- Provide support for special projects in the Education Group.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Media and Communications, Digital Marketing, Education Technology, Instructional Design, or similar, equivalencies of education and experience may also be considered.
- A strong understanding of copyrights, copywriting, the APA style, and natural and environmental science, or other related fields.
