Robotic Mower Pilot Volunteer — Help Neighbors in Need & Earn the Equipment (Charlotte / Indian Trail, NC)

This isn't your typical volunteer listing.

We're a nationwide 501(c)(3) nonprofit looking for a small group of reliable, tech-comfortable volunteers in the Charlotte / Indian Trail, NC area to participate in a first-of-its-kind robotic mower pilot program.

The concept is straightforward: we've partnered with a leading robotic mower manufacturer to place autonomous mowing units at the homes of seniors, veterans, and neighbors with disabilities who simply can't maintain their own yards anymore. These homeowners have reached out to us for help — and this pilot is designed to show what modern technology can do when it's paired with real people who care.

What you'd actually be doing:

You'd be assigned one home (possibly up to a few, based on your own availability) and help deploy, set up, and occasionally check in on a robotic mower placed at that property. No rigid weekly schedule — just a commitment to make a handful of visits between spring and summer to make sure things are running smoothly and the homeowner is supported.

You'd also capture photos and short videos during your visits to help document the real-world impact of the program. Nothing fancy — just honest, authentic content showing the setup, the visits, and the difference it makes. This documentation is a core part of what makes the pilot valuable for everyone involved.

What qualifies a home for this program:

• Homeowner is a senior (65+), veteran, or has a disability
• Lawn is in generally maintainable condition (small to medium suburban yard)
• Property has stable Wi-Fi coverage
• Slope does not exceed 35 degrees
• Homeowner has granted permission and does not have other resources available
• Located within approximately 30–50 miles of Indian Trail, NC

• Someone local to the Charlotte / Indian Trail area
• Comfortable with technology and willing to learn a new system
• Reliable enough to commit to a handful of visits over the season without needing to be chased
• Willing and comfortable capturing photos and short videos during visits
• Genuinely motivated to help neighbors in need — not just here for free equipment

This is a win-win all around. The homeowner gets ongoing lawn care they couldn't otherwise access. You get hands-on experience with exciting technology and ultimately earn the equipment. The program gets authentic documentation to prove the model works. And if this pilot succeeds, it becomes the blueprint for helping a lot more people in a lot more places.
