    Descrição

    Disaster Management Volunteer in Africa

    Summary

Art in Tanzania collaborates with corporations and government institutions to address natural and artificial environmental disasters.

    Details

Art in Tanzania has been active since 1996. Our community placements attract around 250 participants each year. Our vision is to provide students with hands-on experience in developing African communities.

Alongside your studies, you will enjoy an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as incredible natural beauty and diverse wildlife.

Disaster management should be more widely acknowledged, and the public needs education on related management issues. Floods, earthquakes, landslides, diseases like malaria and cholera, hunger, poverty, deserts, global warming due to climate change, and industrial incidents stemming from inadequate health and safety practices in the workplace affect people and their properties.

This program aims to educate and empower the Tanzanian people about resilience throughout all stages of disaster management, including mitigation, preparedness, response, and prevention, in schools and public spaces. Various governmental and non-governmental institutions support it.

We collaborate with entities such as Twiga Cement Industries, Coca-Cola, the Tanzanian government, NBC Bank, PVC, and AG-Energies Company Ltd. We are also expanding our program to include the United Nations Organisation. This program has a cross-cutting focus, allowing students from different professions to attend and collaborate.

Work hours range from 6 to 8 hours daily, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, allowing for adjustable start dates. Your placement is customised based on your background, experience, and interests, which empowers our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks encompass practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility efforts. The start and end dates are flexible since all programs are ongoing, with many having begun as early as 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy affordable, sustainable safaris and tours. We typically have 15 to 40 students from various parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we have collaborative partnerships. They embody a diverse range of nationalities.

Benefits and Perks are as follows: Accommodation and meals are personal expenses. For 1 to 13 weeks, EUR 175 per week covers accommodation, including breakfast and dinner, access to the student compound facilities, and professional tutoring. From week 14 onwards, the cost is EUR 125 per week.

The airport transfer costs EUR 60 one way and is considered a personal expense. A charity immigration visa costs USD 50 and is regarded as a personal expense.

A multiple-entry visa for less than 12 months is USD 250. We provide interns with a monthly stipend of $50, which is modest but twice the national minimum wage in Tanzania. Flights represent a personal expense. Local transportation, if available, is a personal expense. Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the Tanzania training.
