Every child deserves to begin the school year feeling confident and ready to learn!

The Salvation Army Tucson's Back-to-School Child Spree provides children from local families with the opportunity to shop for new school clothing and receive essential school supplies before the first day of school.

This special event is about more than backpacks and pencils - it's about restoring confidence, reducing financial stress for families, and giving children the chance to walk into their classrooms feeling prepared, included, and excited for the year ahead. With the support of caring volunteers, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of local students. Please read this post in it's entirety for important instructions on how to register.

Volunteer Opportunity Description:

Be part of a memorable day that changes lives! Volunteers will serve as shopping escorts for local children (ages kindergarten through 12th grade), helping them select school clothing/school uniforms and other essential items while also offering encouragement, kindness, and a positive experience they'll remember long after the shopping trip ends. Each child will also receive a brand new backpack filled with school supplies to start off the school year strong. No special experience is required,* just a friendly and caring attitude! Your time will help ensure every child starts the school year with confidence and hope!

• Volunteers must be 18+ to volunteer for this event. We cannot accommodate volunteers who need community service for this event.

INTERESTED VOLUNTEERS MUST REGISTER AT: volunteer.usawest.org. Please note: We only accept online volunteer registrations, phone calls or emails are not accepted for volunteer registration. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, JULY 17, AT 12:00 PM!

There are NO GROUP registrations! Each individual volunteer (including those who are a part of a group) MUST complete all paperwork (included in the online registration form), to participate in this special event. If you do not receive a CONFIRMATION NOTICE at the end of registering - your registration has NOT been recorded and you will not be able to volunteer.
