Senior Transportation

Do you have a car and a little extra time? Become a NESA Volunteer Driver and provide a ride! Volunteer Drivers provide a critical service: Ensuring senior clients have door-to-door transportation to important medical appointments.

Safe, reliable transportation is the #1 need for seniors. Without it, their health can decline, and they may have to move to assisted living - losing their independence. Many seniors want to remain living in their own homes where they feel safe and comfortable. That's where Northeast Senior Assistance steps in, or should we say, "drives up!"

• Volunteer drivers provide one-on-one service to medical (medical, dental, vision, lab, etc.). and stay with "their" client for the duration of the client's appointment. Then safely returns the client home. All clients live in northeast San Antonio, but appointments maybe anywhere throughout San Antonio.
• Volunteers access NESA's database for ride requests and can select client(s) based on where they live, where they are going, and time of the appointment.
• NESA clients have been pre-screened and are ambulatory; though sometimes with a cane or walker. We do not transport clients who utilize wheelchairs.
• Volunteer Drivers can choose how often they provide rides - once per week or once per month, whatever your schedule allows!
• MILEAGE is reimbursed by NESA.
