Role Overview
A Free Bird is seeking a highly organized, creative, and motivated Executive Assistant, Media & Communications to support Executive Leadership while contributing to media, communications, and public-facing initiatives. This role offers hands-on exposure to nonprofit leadership, digital storytelling, and communications strategy, making it ideal for students, emerging professionals, or creatives seeking meaningful, portfolio-building experience.
The Executive Assistant will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication, organized workflows, and engaging content across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling, meeting coordination, agendas, and follow-ups
- Organize internal documents, email communications, and shared resources
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to Executive Leadership
Writing & Communications
- Draft and edit internal communications, announcements, and updates
- Support development of short-form written content, including emails and social captions
- Help maintain consistent, professional messaging aligned with organizational voice
Media & Video Support
- Assist with editing short-form video content for social media, campaigns, and events
- Support content organization, file management, and digital storytelling efforts
- Contribute to basic visual and multimedia content creation
Social Media Support
- Assist with scheduling and managing posts across platforms
- Research trends, hashtags, and engagement best practices
- Support community engagement through comments, messages, and content planning
Public Relations & Outreach
- Help organize outreach lists, media contacts, and communication materials
- Support public-facing campaigns, partnerships, and awareness initiatives
- Assist with tracking and coordinating communications related to external outreach
Qualifications
- Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Strong written communication and editing skills
- Basic experience with social media, content creation, and/or video editing
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a team
- Passion for nonprofit work, creativity, and social impact
