Program Overview
Inclusive World’s Vocational Weekday Skills Program is designed to empower adults (18 and above) with developmental disabilities, learn the technical and interpersonal skills needed to pursue educational and career goals. We use person-centered practices to support vocational skill development, hands-on experiential learning, employment preparation, community engagement, and health and wellness activities. This is a learning-focused, skill-building program, not a traditional day program.
Volunteer Role Overview
Inclusive World is seeking volunteers to support our Vocational Weekday Skills Program. Volunteers assist instructors during classroom and program activities and help foster a respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
For volunteers who are interested and comfortable, there may also be opportunities to help lead or facilitate classes or activities aligned with the program curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Support instructors during classroom and program activities
- Assist with lessons, group work, and hands-on projects
- Help prepare materials and support student participation
- Provide encouragement and support to students during activities
- Assist with transitions and group activities as needed
- For volunteers with relevant experience or interest, help lead or facilitate classes or activities in collaboration with staff
Ideal Volunteer Qualities
- Respectful, patient, and collaborative
- Comfortable working with neurodivergent and neurotypical adults
- Interested in education, vocational skills, community engagement, or nonprofit work
- Open to learning and working within a person-centered program
- Motivated to make a meaningful difference in the lives of neurodivergent adults
Time Commitment
- Program runs during weekday hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- Flexible scheduling, with opportunities to volunteer 1–3 days per week for a couple of hours
Training & Support
- Orientation and guidance provided by Inclusive World staff
- Ongoing collaboration with instructors and program staff
