Volunteer Opportunity: Companion Visitor (In‑Person or Virtual)

We are seeking a kind and patient volunteer to provide companionship to an older adult living in an Adult Family Home in Burien. This individual would benefit greatly from consistent social connection and meaningful conversation.

About the Participant

• • Experiences confusion and occasional agitation, particularly related to changes in living situation
  • Enjoys talking about:
  • Children and grandchildren
  • Life experiences and past travels across the U.S.
  • Sports (football, baseball, volleyball)
  • Fishing, playing pool, listening to music, and dancing
  • Social by nature and values conversation and personal connection

Volunteer Role

• • Provide friendly companionship through conversation and shared interests
  • Help offer comfort and reassurance through consistent, calm presence
  • Visits may be in‑person or virtual (phone/GrandPad) depending on volunteer availability
  • Scheduling is flexible; afternoon visits preferred after nap times

  • Patient, dependable, and comfortable supporting someone with mild cognitive and emotional challenges
