Build Your Portfolio. Grow Your Network. Tell Stories That Matter.

Looking for an opportunity where you can do real PR and communications work not just observe from the sidelines?

We’re looking for a creative, curious, and motivated PR & Communications Coordinator who wants to help tell meaningful stories, build media relationships, and grow the visibility of a mission-driven organization.

Whether you’re building your career in PR, communications, journalism, or marketing, transitioning into the field, returning to the workforce, or looking to use your professional skills for a meaningful cause, this role gives you the opportunity to create work you can be proud of and make a visible impact.

You’ll work on projects spanning media relations, storytelling, press outreach, executive communications, content development, and brand visibility with opportunities to bring your own ideas to the table.

What You’ll Get to Work On

    PR & Media

Get hands-on experience with the work that drives public relations.

    • Research journalists, publications, podcasts, influencers, and media opportunities.
    • Help develop and maintain relationships with media contacts.
    • Draft media pitches and support outreach to journalists and publications.
    • Identify opportunities for interviews, features, podcasts, events, and speaking engagements.
    • Coordinate media requests and interview logistics.
    • Track media coverage, mentions, and outreach results.

    Storytelling & Communications

Help us find the stories worth telling—and bring them to life.

    • Discover stories about our people, programs, volunteers, partnerships, milestones, and community impact.
    • Draft press releases, announcements, articles, media pitches, talking points, and other communications.
    • Help create clear, engaging messages for different audiences.
    • Support executive and organizational communications.
    • Contribute ideas for creative ways to tell our story and expand our reach.

    Content & Brand Visibility

Work across teams to help increase awareness of our mission.

    • Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, Programs, and leadership.
    • Support communications around events, campaigns, partnerships, and organizational milestones.
    • Help develop content for newsletters, websites, social media, and other communication channels.
    • Research relevant trends, conversations, and opportunities where our organization can participate.

    Build Something With Us

We’re growing which means you won’t simply inherit a finished playbook.

You’ll have the opportunity to help us build it.

    • Help create PR resources, templates, media lists, and communication tools.
    • Bring forward ideas for improving our PR and communications efforts.
    • Help organize communications calendars and outreach plans.
    • Experiment with new ways to reach audiences and tell our story.
    • Take ownership of projects and see your ideas move from concept to execution.

    Why You’ll Love This Opportunity

This isn’t a volunteer opportunity where you’re limited to administrative tasks.

We want you to learn, contribute, create, and grow.

    You’ll have the opportunity to:

    • Build real world PR and communications experience.
    • Create professional work samples for your portfolio.
    • Gain hands-on experience with media outreach and storytelling.
    • Work on projects with visible organizational impact.
    • Collaborate directly with experienced professionals and organizational leaders.
    • Gain exposure to executive communications and thought leadership.
    • Develop relationships across Marketing, Creative, Programs, and other teams.
    • Strengthen your writing, media relations, project management, and communication skills.
    • Bring your ideas forward and have a voice in how the function develops.
    • Build experience you can take into your next professional opportunity.
    • Expand your professional network while contributing to a meaningful mission.

You Might Be Perfect for This Role If...

You’re the person who sees a great story and thinks, “More people should know about this.”

You enjoy writing, researching, connecting with people, and finding creative ways to communicate ideas.

You’re curious about how organizations build their reputation and earn media attention.

You’re organized enough to keep projects moving but creative enough to bring new ideas to the table.

And you’re looking for an opportunity where you can actually do the work, not just watch someone else do it.

    What You Bring

You don’t need to check every box.

We’re interested in potential, creativity, reliability, and willingness to learn just as much as previous job titles.

    You may bring:

    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • An interest in PR, communications, journalism, media, marketing, or storytelling.
    • Strong research and organizational skills.
    • Creativity and curiosity.
    • Attention to detail.
    • A willingness to learn and try new things.
    • The confidence to contribute ideas and ask questions.
    • Strong follow-through and dependability.
    • A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
    • Professionalism and good judgment.

Experience through school, internships, freelance projects, volunteering, personal projects, or professional roles all counts.

    Who Should Apply?

We encourage you to apply if you are:

    • A student or recent graduate looking to break into PR or communications.
    • An early-career communications, PR, journalism, media, or marketing professional.
    • A career changer looking to build practical PR experience.
    • A professional returning to the workforce.
    • An experienced professional who wants to contribute your expertise to a meaningful cause.
    • A writer, storyteller, or creative communicator looking to expand your portfolio.

Don’t talk yourself out of applying because you don’t meet every qualification.

If you’re excited about the opportunity, believe you can contribute, and want to grow your experience, we want to hear from you.
