Our mission is to create opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency. One of the keys to achieving self-sufficiency is having a job that pays a livable wage with benefits and an opportunity for career advancement. Many in our region are underemployed because of a lack of marketable job skills. In order for our community to be a vibrant place where hopes and dreams are realized, we must have an educated and empowered workforce. Our Center for Employment Training (CET) offers adults life-changing skills to help them find good jobs with a livable wage and build successful futures. Instruction is hands-on, practical, and personal, designed to get people working as quickly as possible to begin their path to a promising future.
CET's Medical Assisting program is seeking volunteer actors of all ages to play a standardized patient. Trainees will practice rooming patients, asking prescreening questions, and enhance their bedside manner. Patients will then provide constructive feedback and discuss areas of improvement with trainees so they can be best prepared for their externships and landing good jobs. This opportunity occurs once per month between 12:30p-2:30p Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday depending on volunteer availability.
