Volunteer Buddy for Thursdays Afterschool Special Needs Camp

Volunteer as a 1:1 buddy support for kids and teens with special needs, at InTouch's Friendship themed Afterschool camp series running on Thursday evenings from Oct 29th - Dec 17th! Looking for a fun way to make a difference? Need community service hours credit? Love working with kids or people with disabilities? In the Tucson / Oro Valley area, available Thursday evenings?

We invite volunteer adults and teens ages 13+ to help create memories for kids of all abilities at our inclusive camp! Each volunteer is paired with a camper to support them in moving freely, making friends, and expressing themselves through a variety of artistic and physical movement activities! This accessible and inclusive camp welcomes kids and teens of ALL abilities to build friendships and discover new compassion skills, through hands-on arts and crafts, and creative movement.

Our program is unique in how much we rely on the role of our volunteers, so attendance for this commitment is critical. You will be asked to be always actively helping, including helping with set up, clean up, and assisting running activities, and assisting with keeping positive high energy. Also important to note that many of the campers exhibit behavior challenges, so important to be prepared to expect this. You will never be alone and the team is here to support you in supporting your buddy! :) We have a blast!!

Once a week: Thursdays Oct 29th - Dec 17th (excluding Nov 26th for the holiday) (7 camp days across 8 weeks)

at Integrative Touch Healing Center near Oracle and Ina.

Volunteer hours: 4:30pm - 7:45pm

Volunteers must complete a brief orientation training online, brief paperwork, and are strongly requested to participate in at least 3 of the 5 days. New volunteers will do a brief zoom interview. Volunteers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign them in/out every camp day. Must be over 13 yrs old.

All volunteers 18+ must complete a background check prior to volunteering, which costs only $10. We will provide instructions.

Our center specializes in offering 1:1 high support in playful and healing educational experiences, for kids and teens who can benefit from extra support. Our programming welcomes all abilities, but is designed to include those affected by disability, medical conditions, or trauma.

No experience needed, just willingness, interest, enthusiasm, responsibility, and capability to learn and assist.
