"Your story is the greatest legacy that you will leave to your friends. It is the longest lasting legacy you will leave to your heirs." -Steve Saint
Are you creative? A good listener? A people person? Do you like to write, take pictures, paint, or use creative expression to capture memories? Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer experience?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions then this opportunity is for you!
Legacy Volunteers are trained to work with hospice patients and their loved ones to create a meaningful legacy project(s). We want to focus on the life that has been lived and not just the death that is impending. These unique projects help capture a patients life stories, wisdom, personality, etc. Each project turns into a priceless family heirloom after a patient passes away, something for future generations to cherish. Projects may include, but are not limited to-putting together a photo album/scrapbook, writing down life stories, cherished family recipes etc., helping create memorial service slide shows, taking pictures of patient hands for a "these hands" project, recording voice messages, creating art projects like handprint art or mix-media projects...the possibilities are endless.
No previous hospice experience is needed, AccentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer.
