Reduce Waste Chicago is a nonprofit organization that empowers residents to address climate change through waste reduction on a personal, producer and policy level. We host Reuse and Recycling Pop-Up events across the city, where we collect a selection of items that can be reused, repurposed or are difficult to recycle. Our schedule can be found on our events page. Before visiting, please check out our list of accepted items. We also collaborate with other organizations and artists to collect specific items.
Our volunteers are key to our organization and making our events run smoothly. Volunteers are responsible for setting up the space prior to the event, collecting, sorting, and packing up items received during the event, and packing up our truck and cleaning up the space at the conclusion of the event. We also are in need of volunteers to deliver items to various collection partners throughout the city and suburbs. If you have access to a vehicle and are willing to make deliveries, please reach out to volunteers@reducewastechicago.org.
Chicago Waldorf School is conveniently located near the Clark (22) and Damen (5) bus lines. The event entrance is on the west side of the school off of Foster. On street metered and non-metered parking is available.
Please visit Reduce Waste Chicago: February 28, 2026: Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up at Chicago Waldorf School to sign up for one or more shifts. We will follow up closer to the event date with specific information for volunteers.
