About Siyavula
The Siyavula Foundation is an impact-driven education technology non-profit with an active
commercial subsidiary, headquartered in South Africa. Our curriculum-aligned Secondary
School Mathematics and Science learning platform has established users in South Africa and
Rwanda, and we are in the process of expanding to Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda and
Nigeria.

continental expansion and organisational maturity. As a board member, you will play a pivotal
role in shaping our growth, broadening our impact and ensuring the long-term sustainability of
our work.
Role specification
Responsibilities: Offer strategic insights and connections to advance regional expansion,
continue product improvement, unlock new networks and ensure lasting impact. Provide
strategic governance and oversight to ensure statutory compliance, sound financial
management and alignment with stated values and goals.
Time commitment: Approximately 8 - 10 days annually, including four virtual board meetings.
Opportunities for ad hoc engagement based on interest and expertise.
Location: Fully remote, with a focus on African-based representation. Occasional in-person
engagement may arise depending on location.
Compensation: This is a voluntary role.
Timing: New board members will join the board in Q1 2026 with onboarding continuing
through Q2
Person specification
We are recruiting 2 new board members to strengthen our strategic capacity. Ideal candidates
will be visionary leaders with a commitment to equitable education and meaningful
technological inclusion.
We are especially interested to hear from individuals who have expertise and experience
related to:
Successful candidates will be those aligned with our values of offering quality education
interventions, at scale, to all learners, but optimised for access and engagement by those in
economically disadvantaged contexts
Strong preference will be given to African candidates based in, and familiar with, the education
ecosystem in our relevant geographies (South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana,
Uganda, Nigeria).
