OpenGov Africa is a civic-tech STEM startup using open source technology, data, and community-driven innovation to reimagine governance, strengthen transparency, and empower citizen participation across Africa.

As a new startup, we are seeking a dedicated Marketing Team (Graphic Designers, Content Writers, Social Media Managers) to help build and amplify the OpenGov Africa brand, raise awareness of our mission, and engage diverse communities across Africa and globally. Marketing is the engine of our visibility and storytelling, ensuring that our projects, advocacy, and impact reach the right audiences.

This role is ideal for people who are passionate about creativity, storytelling, and communications for social impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Content Creation: Develop engaging written, visual, and video content for social media, blogs, newsletters, and campaigns.
• Social Media Management: Build and maintain our social media presence (LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok Twitter, Instagram), track engagement, and grow our digital community.
• Graphic Design: Design brand-aligned graphics, posters, and visual assets for campaigns and events.
• Campaign Support: Collaborate with the fundraising and advocacy teams on campaign messaging and materials.
• Analytics: Track and report engagement metrics, adjusting strategies for maximum reach and impact.
• Community Engagement: Craft narratives that amplify the voices of volunteers and communities OpenGov Africa serves.

Qualifications

• Experience or strong interest in marketing, communications, or design (nonprofit or social impact experience is a plus).
• Strong writing, editing, and visual design skills.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment.
• Passion for governance, civic engagement, or Pan-African movements.

Expected Requirements

• Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week.
• Commitment Period: Minimum 6 months.
• Remote Work: Must have reliable internet access.
