Descrição
The Community Data & Resource Analyst Intern supports the mission of improving access to essential community services by assisting in the collection, organization, and analysis of local resource data.
This role is designed for students and recent graduates, including international students on F-1 visas eligible for OPT (Optional Practical Training). The intern will help maintain and strengthen an internal Community Resource Directory that connects underserved individuals and families to services such as food assistance, housing support, healthcare, legal aid, and job training programs.
Responsibilities
- Community Resource Collection
- Identify and research local service providers (nonprofits, government agencies, faith-based organizations)
- Use sources such as 211 directories, government databases, open data portals, and partner networks
- Conduct outreach via phone or email to verify services, eligibility, and availability
- Data Organization & Entry
- Enter data into structured spreadsheets or databases using standardized formats
- Classify resources by category, population served, region, and access level
- Tag and track resources as new, verified, or outdated
- Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and updated records using tools such as Google Sheets, Excel, Air-table, or CRM systems
- Support data cleaning, duplication, and formatting
- Assist in generating reports and visual summaries of community resource gaps and distribution
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work with internal teams and community partners to align data with outreach and referral efforts
- Participate in meetings and share updates on data collection progress
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical data handling standards
Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Public Health, Social Work, Urban Planning, Information Systems, or related fields
- Strong research, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with Google Sheets, Excel, Airtable, or similar tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Required Skills
- Familiarity with Google Workspace tools (Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Maps)
- Experience with community mapping or open data platforms
- Basic understanding of data analysis or data cleaning tools (e.g., Google Sheets functions, Excel formulas, Open Refine)
- Introductory knowledge of SQL or Python (especially for data organization or analysis tasks)
- Experience working or volunteering with nonprofit or public service organizations
- Strong interest in equity, access, and social impact work
