Descrição
InterExchange, a leading international cultural exchange not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a 50+ year history running exceptional cross-cultural programs, seeks individuals on a voluntary basis who are interested in supporting our commitment to mission integrity, operational resilience, and responsible stewardship by serving on our Board of Directors.
As a fee-for-service organization operating life experiential work-based programs in an increasingly complex external environment we are seeking board directors who will join us as guardians and champions of our mission, reputation, and important work in the international cultural exchange space that has defined our organization for five decades.
Ideal candidates will be successful executive-level professionals, located within the Northeast Corridor (Boston, New York City, or Washington, D.C. metro areas), with current experience in any of the following areas:
- Public Policy, Government Affairs, or Regulatory Affairs (particularly immigration, education, labor, or international affairs)
- Risk Management, Compliance, or Enterprise Risk Oversight
- Legal (nonprofit governance, employment, or risk)
- Operational Excellence and Cost Discipline (professional services, education, healthcare, or other fee-based sectors)
- Public Relations, Crisis Leadership and Strategic Communications
- International or Cross-Cultural Services
This is a volunteer position.
Previous Board experience is preferred but not required.
Board Directors serve 3-year terms, attend four board meetings per year (currently a mix of virtual and in-person in NYC), serve on/or Chair one or more committees (with meetings as necessary), fulfill NYS-mandated fiduciary oversight requirements (such as approving the budget and CEO annual performance and salary review), and provide critical insight and expert advice to the CEO and senior management. InterExchange is a management-led, fee-for-service, nonprofit organization, and our board of directors does not currently serve a fundraising role. We do not have a “give/get” requirement.
Resilience, sound governance, ethical leadership, advocacy, commitment to equitable access, and measuring impact are all baked into our day-to-day, and we continually strive to do more in promoting increased people-to-people diplomacy and mutual understanding. We do this by strengthening our current programs, providing ongoing training to our staff, anticipating and responding to external risks, and ensuring that the trust placed in us by participants, hosts, partners, and regulators is fully honored. We are seeking Board Directors who share our vision and will thoughtfully add their judgment, experience, and expertise to achieving our goals.
This is an exciting opportunity to align your passion for international cultural exchange with an organization whose mission is to inspire and engage others in pursuing experiences that will lead to a more peaceful, connected and prosperous world.
