About the Role
Creshendo is a global, volunteer-led nonprofit working alongside migrant and refugee communities to build more community-led approaches to integration, storytelling, and economic mobility.
Our team spans countries, cultures, careers, and time zones. People show up because they care about the work and about each other. We keep things human, flexible, and relatively low hierarchy. You can come as you are here. What matters is that you communicate, follow through, and care about what we’re building together.
We’re looking for a Chief of Staff to work closely with our Founder and Executive Director and help keep the organization moving. You’ll have a front-row seat to building an early-stage nonprofit while working across strategy, operations, programs, partnerships, and our global team.
This is a high-trust role for someone who takes initiative naturally, enjoys making ambitious ideas executable, and wants room to grow as Creshendo grows.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a strategic and operational right hand to the Executive Director
- Help organize priorities, decisions, follow-ups, and next steps
- Coordinate with Team Leads and keep cross-team priorities moving
- Prepare for leadership meetings and track commitments afterward
- Spot blockers, gaps, and loose ends before they become bigger problems
- Turn conversations and ideas into clear actions
- Support special projects across the organization
- Help determine what needs the Executive Director’s attention and what can move forward independently
As you learn Creshendo and build trust, we want you to take increasing ownership.
You Might Thrive Here If You
- Take initiative without waiting for detailed instructions
- Do what you say you’ll do and communicate early when something changes
- Are warm, responsive, and easy to work with
- Can move comfortably between details and the bigger picture
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment
- Enjoy working independently with people across cultures and time zones
- Get energy from passionate people and early-stage environments
- Want responsibility, feedback, and space to grow
We care much more about how you think, what you can do, and how you show up than a particular degree or career path.
Because our work is rooted in migration and community leadership, we especially welcome people with lived experience of migration or displacement, experience working alongside migrant and refugee communities, or perspectives shaped outside traditional Western nonprofit spaces.
What You’ll Gain
You’ll learn how an organization actually gets built from the inside, with exposure to strategy, leadership, operations, partnerships, programs, and decision making.
This isn’t a role where we want you to stay in the background forever. For the right person, there is meaningful room to grow in responsibility and leadership alongside Creshendo.
How We Work
We’re fully remote and global. We care more about outcomes than looking busy, and we believe good work can coexist with flexibility, personality, and being human.
That freedom comes with responsibility. We trust people to own their commitments, communicate clearly, and ask for help when they need it. We take the mission seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.
Time Commitment
Approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, with flexibility around when you work. Because you’ll work closely with the Executive Director and Team Leads, consistent communication and some schedule overlap will be important.
How to Apply
- Send us your résumé or LinkedIn profile and a short note answering:
- Tell us about something you noticed needed to happen and took ownership of without being asked.
- No formal cover letter needed. We’re more interested in how you think and operate than how polished your application sounds.
