We are putting on a Pop Up Maker Faire at the 2025 Craft Lake City DIY Fest!

What Is Craft Lake City DIY Fest?

The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival is Utah’s largest local-centric art, music, science and technology festival.The Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons is Utah’s largest local-centric art, music, science and technology festival celebrating all things handmade in Utah with over 500 local artisans, vintage vendors, foodies, youth entrepreneurs, performers & STEM exhibitors!

We need your help to run the different STEM activities we will be presenting during the event.

What You Should Know:

• This opportunity will be at the Utah State Fairground during the 2025 Craft Lake City DIY Fest.
• The STEM Action Center is not running this event. We will have a booth space inside the event's Google Fiber STEM Building. Note: Craft Lake City is also recruiting volunteers for the Google Fiber STEM Building. This listing is to help with the STEM Action Center specifically.
• The event is indoors. Please dress comfortably and bring your own drinks/snacks.
• You will be assigned a job ahead of time via email. Please make sure to be checking your email in the days prior to the event.
• Details on how to access your volunteer shift at the Fairground will be emailed to you prior to the event.
• There will be STEM Action Center employees/interns/AmeriCorps members there to help you with any questions while at the STEM Action Center booth.
• Please be there 10-15 minutes early for your shift to allow for parking and the time it takes to walk to the STEM building.
• The parking at the Utah State Fairgrounds is $15.00 for the full day. Off-street neighborhood parking is available for free but may require walking several blocks depending on availability. • Please feel free to sign up for more then one shift. We'd love to have your help!
• Please have everyone register individually, or as part of a team, who is planning on helping.
• After/before your shift, you are able to enjoy the rest of DIY Fest! Your volunteer shift will gain you entry for the rest of the day. The hours for DIY Fest on Saturday, August 9 is 12 PM - 10:00 p.m.

About The Pop Up Maker Faire Project:

• The Young Makers and Future Innovators Program uses a makerbased approach to engage children ages 3-8 and their families from communities of intergenerational poverty in rich STEM learning experiences. The Pop Up

Maker Faires are one of the opportunities, funded through a grant from bioMerieux and designed as replicable, affordable and sustainable over time. Six communities (West Valley City, Layton/Clearfield, Kearns, Taylorsville/Murray, Midvale and Rosepark/Fairpark) have been identified to access this learning, using themed Innovation Stations which focus on the design process and problem solving.

During the first year, six Pop Up Maker Faires provided activities to an estimated 824 participants. The activity themes included: Cardboard Creations, Create Your Code, Electronics and Electricity, Paper Crafts, Science of Sound, Storybook STEM and Edible Engineering. This year eighteen additional Pop Up Maker Faires are being scheduled.
