The Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care is seeking Volunteer Advocates to serve throughout the state. This is a very rewarding and flexible volunteer opportunity. We ask for a time commitment of 2 hours per week, any day of the week, between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm. For more information visit our website https://longtermcare.wi.gov/Pages/Volunteer.aspx or call 1-800-815-0015.
Join a team that helps nursing home residents know and understand their rights.
We train and support volunteers to be advocates for Long Term Care facilities (Nursing home and Assisted Living) residents 60 and older. Volunteers make unannounced visits to their assigned facility once a week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., providing a valuable opportunity for residents to share concerns, offer ideas and talk with someone independent of the facility. This volunteer program promotes residents’ rights and many times volunteers are the voice for residents who don’t have family or visitors. The residents look forward to the weekly visits with their Volunteer Advocate. Current volunteers say that they get more out of being an advocate in the program than they give-it’s a win-win for everyone!
