Go Behind the Scenes with KMHD — Volunteer at Live Events!

Love live music, community connection, and great vibes? This is your chance to be part of the action! OPB and KMHD are looking for friendly, dependable volunteers to help bring our special events to life across the Portland metro area.

As a KMHD Event Volunteer, you’ll be right in the middle of local jazz festivals, concerts, screenings, live recordings, donor appreciation events, and more—all while supporting the station you love and connecting with fellow music fans.

• Go behind the scenes and meet KMHD and OPB staff

• Help expand KMHD’s ability to engage meaningfully with the community

What You’ll Do:

• Greet and engage with guests
• Take tickets or check guest lists
• Help usher guests to their seats
• Invite attendees to fill out forms or enter raffle drawings
• Assist the production team as needed
• Support event setup and teardown

We’re Looking for Volunteers Who Are:

• Over the age of 18
• Extremely reliable and dependable
• Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable talking with lots of people
• Flexible and able to think on their feet in busy environments
• Willing to communicate with OPB and KMHD staff via email and in person
• Living in the Portland metro area (including surrounding cities)
• Familiarity with KMHD programming is a plus!

Training & Support:

• Training provided by Volunteer Engagement staff
• On-site support from KMHD staff
• Ongoing updates and training as needed

Time Commitment:

• Approximately 3–5 events per year
• Most events take place in spring and summer
• Volunteer shifts are typically 3–5 hours
• Many events occur on weekends
