Do you sew? Compassionate Care Hospice is looking for people to make busy quilts and memory bears
Detalhes
Descrição
One of the missions of hospice is to not only support the patients on their end-of-life journey but to support the families for 13 months after. We are seeking people who enjoy sewing to make busy lap quilts for our dementia patients. These are small lap "quilts" that have things like zippers, velcro, pockets, things to keep hands busy with simple tasks. They help with anxiety and engagement. We supply all the raw materials and instructions. We are looking for talented sewers who can make memory bears for family members from the clothes of their loved one on hospice. Again, we give you all the supplies and patterns.
The need for these cannot be underestimated. They provide tactile connection, reduce real anxiety and make a huge difference for our patients and their families. They become permanent touch stones of lives lived before this moment they are in.
There is an onboarding process with paperwork, a background check and references. You can do all the work from home on your schedule. The busy quilts have a slightly shorter turnaround time so the patients can use them for the longest amount of time they have.
If this is a project you think fits for you, please respond to this posting and Kris, our volunteer coordinator will happily reach out to you.
