About Us:

The KC7 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) cybersecurity education nonprofit founded in 2023.

Our Vision: To ensure learners of all ages and backgrounds have access to cybersecurity education opportunities.

Our Mission: We democratize cybersecurity education by providing the KC7 Cyber Game—a free, publicly accessible online learning platform that helps people develop essential cybersecurity skills.

Position Overview:

We are seeking passionate, strategic, and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will help shape the vision and future of the KC7 Foundation, offering governance, oversight, and guidance as we expand our impact across educational institutions in the United States. Your expertise will strengthen our and help amplify our mission.

Term: Two years

Location: Anywhere (remote)

Key Responsibilities:

• Governance & Compliance: Uphold ethical standards and ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and best practices.
• Financial Stewardship: Review and approve budgets, monitor financial health, and support fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability.
• Advocacy & Outreach: Serve as an ambassador for the KC7 Foundation, Inc.—engaging with donors, policymakers, educators, and others to raise awareness and build partnerships.
• Fundraising & Resource Development: Assist in donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship. Lead or support fundraising events and initiatives.
• Strategic Oversight: Help assess risks and opportunities, contribute to long-term planning, and support organizational growth.
• Committee Service: Actively participate in board committees aligned with your skills (e.g., finance, governance, communications, development).

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to accessible education and social equity
• Alignment with KC7’s mission, vision, and values
• Experience in governance, law, nonprofit management, marketing, finance, human resources, technology, education, or fundraising
• Strong communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills
• Willingness to contribute time, talent, and financial resources
• Availability to attend monthly board meetings and participate in committee work (approx. 5-10 hours/month)
