Overview:
Skid Row Brigade and Skid Row Streetball League host regular community engagement events and a monthly food distribution program serving children and families in Skid Row and surrounding low-income communities. We are seeking caring, reliable volunteers to help us provide hot meals, groceries, clothing, school supplies, and supportive activities in a safe, welcoming environment.
Volunteer Roles May Include:
- Setting up and breaking down event and food distribution spaces
- Assisting with food sorting, packing, and distribution
- Helping with clothing, hygiene, and school supply giveaways
- Supporting art workshops, games, and youth activities
- Welcoming participants, assisting with registration, and guiding families to resources
- General event support, clean-up, and hospitality
Time Commitment:
- Events typically take place on weekends (Saturdays or Sundays)
- Shifts are usually 6-8 hours, with opportunities for ongoing monthly service
What We’re Looking For:
- Respectful, compassionate attitude toward people experiencing homelessness and poverty
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful but not required
Impact:
Your time will directly support food security, youth development, and community wellness for children and families in one of Los Angeles’ most underserved areas. Every volunteer helps bring dignity, care, and hope to Skid Row.
