Board of Directors Member (Volunteer)

Help Shape the Future of Contemporary Dance

danceTactics is seeking passionate, engaged, and community-minded leaders to join our Board of Directors. Founded by Artistic Director Keith A. Thompson, danceTactics is a contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performance organization dedicated to creating bold artistic experiences that foster belonging, amplify underrepresented voices, and build meaningful connections across communities.

As a member of our working Board of Directors, you will play an active role in advancing the organization's artistic vision, strengthening its long-term sustainability, and expanding its impact locally, nationally, and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and governance for the organization.
• Attend quarterly board meetings and actively participate in committee work.
• Support fundraising efforts through personal giving, donor cultivation, sponsorship outreach, grant connections, or event participation.
• Serve as an ambassador for danceTactics by promoting our mission and introducing the organization to new audiences, partners, and supporters.
• Offer professional expertise and guidance in areas such as finance, law, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, education, business development, or community engagement.
• Participate in strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
• Uphold the highest standards of ethics, accountability, confidentiality, and fiduciary responsibility.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants from diverse professional and personal backgrounds who are passionate about the arts and community impact. Previous nonprofit board experience is helpful but not required.

• Collaborative, dependable, and willing to contribute their time and expertise.
• Interested in helping expand danceTactics' network of supporters, partners, and advocates.
• Excited to support organizational growth through fundraising, strategic thinking, and community leadership.

Time Commitment

• Quarterly board meetings (virtual and/or in person)
• Committee participation between meetings
• Attendance at select performances, events, and fundraising activities when possible
