Volunteer-to-Paid Relational Organizer

Role Summary

We are seeking Volunteer-to-Paid Relational Organizers to mobilize New Jersey voters in support of a State Job Guarantee, beginning with pilot programs that create living-wage jobs for people who cannot find stable work.

A Job Guarantee would create jobs that strengthen communities, care for people in need, support schools, improve public services, and address real community needs.

This role begins as a volunteer position focused on helping grow a community of people working together to create good-paying jobs and build support for a Job Guarantee in New Jersey. No prior experience in politics or organizing is required.

Volunteer-to-Paid Organizer program participants will gain hands-on organizing experience, résumé support, career coaching, and political job-search resources.

Participants who complete the program and meet expectations will also receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation.

What You’ll Do

As a Volunteer-to-Paid Relational Organizer (V2P), you will receive support and coaching to help build a small peer-based Organizing Team of at least 5 people from your personal network — such as friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, classmates, former colleagues, or community members.

Volunteer duties may include:

• Invite at least 5 people you know to join a virtual campaign briefing or Organizing Team meeting
• Start conversations about what kinds of good-paying jobs your community needs
• Help people complete FEN-PAC’s Job Guarantee Survey
• Invite people to join the New Jersey for a Job Guarantee Facebook Group
• Share FEN-PAC content and campaign updates
• Help grow a visible online community of New Jersey voters working together to pass a State Job Guarantee
• Support small-dollar fundraising by inviting people to donate $25, or any amount they can give, as the campaign grows

Pathway to a Paid Organizer Position

As our community grows, so does the opportunity.

FEN-PAC is working to create 1,000+ paid organizing opportunities, including part-time Relational Organizer roles, phone/text outreach roles, digital outreach, training, data, community engagement, content support, and campaign operations roles.

Our target pay for part-time Relational Organizer roles is $4,000 per month, as funding becomes available.

While paid employment is not guaranteed, volunteers who demonstrate initiative, consistency, leadership, and strong contributions to growing the campaign will receive priority consideration as positions open. Paid roles will be created as funding and campaign growth allow.

How It Works

2. Our FEN-PAC Political Organizer will contact you for an initial 1-on-1 onboarding meeting
3. Begin reaching out to people you already know and inviting them into the campaign
4. Build and lead a small peer-based Organizing Team
5. Receive weekly check-ins, training, coaching, and support
6. Volunteer remotely from anywhere in New Jersey, on your own schedule
7. Receive technical support via phone, email, or Zoom as needed

As paid positions are funded, active volunteers will be notified and given priority consideration for each opening.

Important Note

This role begins as an unpaid volunteer position. While a paid position cannot be guaranteed, strong volunteers who actively help grow and sustain the campaign will receive priority consideration as roles become available.
