BLOOD DELIVERY DRIVERS
Available in Philadelphia and surrounding counties!
Delivering the gift of life…literally!
- Assure blood gets where and when needed most.
- Use Red Cross vehicle or your own (reimbursement available).
Responsibilities:
- Transport blood and related products from blood drives to Red Cross blood processing center (700 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia) and/or from processing center to area hospitals.
- Pick up supplies from hospitals, returning to processing center or to blood drive locations.
- Complete required paperwork and obtain authorization signatures.
- Communicate with Red Cross staff, including feedback from key stakeholders.
- Work independently or with preferred Navigator.
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner as a representative of the American Red Cross.
- Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor.
Commitment:
- In-person, regional position covering Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. All routes go through Philadelphia, starting/ending at blood processing center!
- Most shifts are weekdays, primarily during normal business hours. Availability to fill weekend and/or evening shifts (4-9 p.m.) highly desirable. Most volunteers sign up for 2-4 routes per month; shift length dependent on selected route, usually 4-6 hours.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
- Valid state driver's license,3+ years safe driving record, minimum age 18, and successful completion of MVR check, as conducted after Volunteer Interview.
- Familiarity with geographic area and driving routes.
- Proof of current insurance and state registration if using personal vehicle.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs., loading boxes into/from vehicles; carts generally provided.
- Commitment to assigned training and successful completion of defensive driving course.
