    Descrição

Got it. Let’s strip away the "corporate-speak" and get straight to the point. This is for a serious Grant Writer who understands the hustle of the "Apple Garage" phase and knows how to find the money.

    Grant Writer (Volunteer Staff)

    Executive Summary

The Texas Railway Preservation Association (TRPA) is seeking a dedicated Grant Writer. Reporting to the Grant Writing Team Lead and the Board Treasurer/Accountant, you will be responsible for finding and securing the capital needed to move our mission forward.

This is a volunteer position for someone who is a relentless researcher and a creative storyteller. You won't just be filling out forms; you will be connecting the dots between the TRPA’s industrial restoration goals and the philanthropic priorities of major foundations and government agencies. We need a writer who can turn technical railroad data into a compelling case for community and educational funding.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Active Grant Research: Utilize digital research tools and library databases to identify new grant opportunities from local, state, federal, and private sources.
    • Proposal Drafting: Write creative, persuasive, and professional grant applications that clearly communicate the TRPA's vision and "One-of-a-Kind" educational value.
    • Sector Relationship Mapping: Research and identify how TRPA’s mission overlaps with different sectors (e.g., STEM education, Houston tourism, historical preservation, or urban development).
    • Fiscal Coordination: Work closely with the Accountant to ensure all grant budgets and financial requests are accurate and transparent.
    • Tracking & Deadlines: Maintain an organized schedule of application windows and reporting requirements to ensure no funding opportunities are missed.

    Professional Requirements

    • Strong Research Skills: You must be capable of digging through complex databases and library records to find "hidden" funding sources.
    • Creative Writing Ability: You can write with an "Institutional" voice that is both authoritative and inspiring.
    • Organizational Discipline: You can manage multiple deadlines and work within a structured team environment.
    • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using electronic devices and online collaboration tools to share drafts and research data.
    • Mission Alignment: A genuine interest in Texas history and a desire to help a growing non-profit secure its permanent home.

    The TRPA Advantage

As a Grant Writer for the TRPA, your work has a direct, physical impact. Every dollar you secure goes toward saving a piece of history and building a world-class institution in Houston. You will build a powerful portfolio of successful high-level grants while working at the center of a unique industrial restoration project.

Join the TRPA. Secure the Legacy.
