Teaching folks how to properly dispose and sort their waste is an important part of waste reduction. Solana Center, is supporting DPR Construction in bringing their event as close to Zero Waste as possible!
Volunteers will help set up waste sorting bins, and staff these stations to let attendees know where to place their discards. No prior experience needed: you will be given all the instructions you need when you arrive.
Help us lighten the load on the planet by leading others in proper recycling/disposal!
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and staffing the waste diversion stations at the event
- Helping attendees properly dispose of their garbage in sorting stations
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes PLEASE READ!
Age Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.
Experience Needed: Comfort interacting with the public, and good customer service skills.
Physical Requirements: Must be ok working around waste (all equipment provided). The ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred, but not required.
Attire: Please wear comfortable clothes suitable for standing and appropriate for the prevailing weather conditions.
Bring: Don’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, and feel free to pack some snacks.
Other: Please be on the lookout for an information email 1-4 days before the event with any additional details. If you can no longer make the event and need to cancel, please let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible so we can give your spot to another volunteer.
