The Compeer Program in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, is looking for adult volunteers that are compassionate and can offer friendship to adults managing mental illness. Compeer Volunteers make their own individual volunteer schedules! Volunteering can fit around family, work, school, or other commitments. A Volunteer is screened, trained and informed about mental illness and the isolation that often goes with it. Volunteers are matched one-to-one with a Member and the Volunteer always has the ability to decide if a Match is right for them. Each match is encouraged to participate in phone calls and a few hours of social activity each month. The Compeer Program provides a quarterly schedule listing a weekly activity facilitated and supervised by Compeer staff. The matches can participate in these. COMPEER Volunteers make a positive difference in the recovery process. COMPEER Volunteers are asked to provide only 4 hours of support per month by making phone calls, emailing, &/or an outing. COMPEER Volunteers make their own schedules!! COMPEER asks volunteers for a 1 year commitment , but a volunteer can continue after that year. You can schedule a visit and meet with Compeer staff to discuss how the Compeer Program can meet your volunteering goals!!
