Avalon’s Nature Initiative provides teens with skills to protect the natural environment and to inspire others to do the same. Offering diverse connections with local organizations, Nature Initiative coordinates events to bring our teen volunteers together with the environmental community. *Open to students in grades 8-12; all LI school districts.
What kind of students volunteer with Nature Initiative? Well, there are students who want to learn about the environment and help support healthy ecosystems across Long Island. There are those who are looking to fulfill community service hours and end up finding so much more during their participation. Some students just have a driving need to make a difference in their community and love the feeling of walking away from a job well done. All of these teens come together to form a strong, motivated group of volunteers who greet every event with enthusiasm and energy, enjoying the great outdoors, socializing with peers from different school districts, and the pride of great accomplishments.
