Sometimes the simplest conversations can make a big difference for someone going through a difficult time. A friendly visit can distract from worries and bring comfort, helping improve quality of life in a patient’s final days.

The patient might reminisce with volunteers about their careers, favorite childhood memories, or important moments in their lives. They might listen to a favorite song together, read aloud from a book, or look through old photos.

Sometimes it’s just sitting quietly, holding a hand, or sharing a peaceful moment. Even silence can be meaningful. Your presence simply reminds someone they are not alone.
