ABOUT LMI: The mission of Leadership Mission International is to develop a new generation of ethical women leaders by providing exceptional academics, leadership and community development experiences. We are a faith-based, U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and public charity. We work in Honduras through The Leadership Center, where we educate classes of 15-20 young women each year over the course of two years so that they will return to their communities as leaders, reinvest in their local economies, and initiate economic and ethical progress in Honduras. We, in part, see our mission at The Leadership Center as reflecting God’s love to those who we seek to serve. We practice and promote core leadership values throughout all levels of the organization.

❖ We foster confidence, resilience & perseverance.

❖ We inspire growth & transformation.

❖ We build a faith-based community that is safe, diverse, & inclusive.

❖ We practice personal initiative & leadership.

❖ We act with courage & integrity.

We honor these values with the purpose of graduating women with strong hearts, strong minds, and strong voices who hold a renewed sense of power and many options for their future.

    ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP:

The LMI Communications & Storytelling Fellowship is an immersive, hands-on leadership experience for early-career professionals who are passionate about digital media, women’s empowerment, and community-centered storytelling. Fellows live and work on LMI’s rural Honduran campus, joining a community of staff and students united by the mission to develop the next generation of ethical Honduran women leaders.

This fellowship is designed for individuals who see communications as a tool for impact and who want to grow as cross-cultural leaders, content creators, mentors, and community builders. The experience blends professional responsibility with intensive learning, collaboration, and service.

    FELLOWSHIP PURPOSE:

As a Communications Fellow, you will elevate the voices, stories, and experiences of LMI’s students and graduates—capturing their growth, courage, and leadership. Your digital storytelling will connect our local work to a global audience and strengthen relationships with donors, partners, and the broader LMI community.

    KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

    Throughout the fellowship, participants will:

    • Build cross-cultural communication, leadership, and mentorship skills.
    • Learn digital storytelling in real-world conditions: photo, video, copywriting, interviews, and campaign strategy.
    • Gain hands-on experience managing brand narrative, social media strategy, and donor communication.
    • Learn community development principles directly from Honduran leaders and faculty.
    • Participate in sustainable agriculture, rural campus life, and intentional community living.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fellows serve full-time and contribute in the following areas:

    Digital Storytelling & Creative Content

    • Produce weekly multimedia content (photo, video, written stories) for LMI social media, blog, and newsletter.
    • Capture student stories and campus life in ways that honor dignity, agency, and cultural context.
    • Lead the Student Marketing Team in developing student-generated content.

    Campaigns & Brand Strategy

    Support quarterly organization-wide campaigns:

    • Honduran Independence Campaign
    • End-of-Year Giving Campaign
    • March for Women Campaign
    • Student Sponsorship Campaign

    Communications & Donor Engagement

    • Maintain and update the LMI website.
    • Support donor stewardship by publishing updates and messaging through our donor management platform.
    • Coordinate communications for short-term visiting teams in collaboration with U.S. and on-campus leadership.

    Community Involvement & Leadership

    • Provide 1:1 English tutoring to students (2–3 hours per weekday).
    • Build mentoring relationships with students and contribute to a positive, collaborative campus culture.
    • Participate in campus leadership activities, team meetings, and optional ministry activities.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

This fellowship is well-suited for applicants who:

    • Are adaptable, curious, and eager to learn in a cross-cultural environment.
    • Have experience or strong interest in communications, marketing, digital storytelling, or journalism.
    • Enjoy mentoring young adults and building relationships.
    • Thrive in a dynamic environment where electricity, Wi-Fi, and rural living require flexibility and creativity.
    • Are collaborative team players who value community and service.

    Preferred, not required:

    • Conversational or fluent Spanish
    • Experience living or working in multicultural contexts
    • Experience mentoring young leaders

    FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS:

    • Room and board provided.
    • Monthly stipend $400.00
    • Monthly health stipend $100.00
    • Residency cost covered.
    • One two way flight stipend per academic year paid monthly. $83.33
    • Eight weeks of vacation annually, some during student vacation and some during academic periods as determined by the Campus Director.
    • While the financial compensation is modest, this opportunity provides valuable hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to make a tangible impact in a growing organization.

One of the great benefits of The Leadership Center is its safe, rural environment, where we practice sustainable agriculture and engage in clean living practices. TLC does not have the infrastructure of a university in the developed world: quite the contrary. You will live off the grid. Sometimes, electricity, water, or Wi-Fi will go out. If you can go with the flow, improvise, and smile when things do not go as planned, you will help contribute to the positive atmosphere.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions are encouraged. LMI welcomes candidates of all backgrounds and is committed to building a diverse, multicultural cohort of fellows.
