About the Position

This is not a traditional grant writing role.

Klubs4Kids already utilizes modern AI tools to develop strong first drafts, maintains a growing grant resource library, and actively researches grant opportunities.

We are looking for a professional who can help elevate our applications from "good" to "exceptional." You will serve as a strategic advisor, editor, and quality assurance partner to ensure our grant proposals are compelling, compliant, funder-focused, and highly competitive.

Role Description

The Grant Strategist/Editor is a part-time, remote role responsible for developing and refining grant strategies that support Klubs4Kids’ mission and programs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review AI-generated grant proposals and provide expert edits.
• Improve clarity, storytelling, and persuasive messaging.
• Ensure each proposal aligns with the priorities and funding guidelines of the Grantmaker.
• Strengthen measurable outcomes, evaluation methods, and sustainability plans.
• Review budgets for consistency with narratives.
• Identify gaps, weaknesses, or missing documentation before submission.
• Recommend strategies that increase competitiveness.
• Assist with long-term grant strategy and funding priorities.
• Help build and improve our reusable grant resource library.
• Provide occasional coaching so our internal team becomes stronger with every proposal.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience.
• Strong grant writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce clear, compelling, and well-structured proposals.
• Experience in grant strategy, including prospect research, funder alignment, and development of funding plans for programs or initiatives.
• Ability to translate program data, outcomes, and stories into persuasive narratives tailored to different funders and sectors.
• Familiarity with youth development, education, STEAM, or nonprofit work, ideally with experience supporting underserved communities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including maintaining grant calendars, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
• Comfort with digital tools for research, document collaboration, and virtual meetings; experience with basic data tracking or CRM tools is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, or related discipline), or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting youth development through education, recreation, and mentorship.

Klubs4Kids believes in fairly compensating professionals for the work they perform. Because we are a growing nonprofit, we prefer milestone-based or project-based agreements that align compensation with clearly defined deliverables.
