Ventura County Library is starting a new initiative called Upskill in partnership with the Economic Development Collaborative (EDC). More details will follow, but please apply if you're interested in learning more about volunteering to assist with computer classes at the Fillmore Library this summer.
- The "Computer Basics" curriculum will include training for all volunteers.
- The goal is to teach adult learners the essential computer skills they need to be successful in an increasingly digital world.
- The eight-session course introduces adult learners to foundational digital skills they need in daily life and teaches them to use a Chromebook device. It is designed for individuals with basic literacy skills (including basic reading and writing skills) and minimal to no digital or computer skills.
- The class follows a proven model that is beneficial for adult learners who need more computer skills to get a job or to move into a higher-paying job.
- The schedule is still to be determined, but it will most likely be for two hours per week, potentially Monday or Tuesday evenings at 6 pm or Saturdays at 10 am in Fillmore.
