Detalhes
Descrição
Journey through books as a Library Outreach Volunteer!
The Library To Go van travels around the city to educate the public on all the ways the library can help people. We go to schools, senior centers, Movies in the Parks, Westy Fest, Standley Lake , and more.
- Volunteers will be interacting with the public at every event. As representatives of the library, these public interactions should be friendly and welcoming.
- Volunteers will be responsible for attending a training session before signing up for shifts. The training will cover resources the library offers and van safety.
Outdoor events take place from April to October. Indoor events run year-round.
Benefits:
- Learning about all the library has to offer the community.
- Citywide Volunteer Appreciation Events.
- Volunteer Service Milestone Recognitions.
- Ongoing Training Opportunities.
- Participating in government and community building.
Qualifications
- Friendly personality with excellent customer service.
- Willingness to learn and share information about library resources and programs.
- Volunteers will be responsible for signing up for specific events.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Volunteers will need to lift heavy items like pop-up canopies and boxes of supplies. The van has a lift and all items are on wheels, but sometimes the ground where the event is taking place is uneven, is gravel, has cracked asphalt, or has other barriers that require lifting.
Volunteers will need to push heavy library carts filled with books into and out of the event spaces.
