Strengthen Your Spirituality - Become a Hospice Volunteer - Cinnaminson
Detalhes
Descrição
Hospice Volunteering affords you the opportunity to live your faith. Not to proselytize, but to share yourself with community members needing your time and compassion.
Many religions speak to how attending to the sick is important, not just for the sick, but for the person giving of themselves, too:
Christianity - Christian tradition emphasizes that visiting the sick is an act of love and service.
Judaism - In Judaism, the Talmud (Shabbat 132a) teaches that “one who visits the sick is like one who visits the sick person’s family.” This underscores the sacredness of the sick person’s life and the spiritual obligation to care for them.
Islam - The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever visits the sick, Allah will visit him with health” (Sahih al-Bukhari). This reflects the Islamic principle that spiritual well-being is linked to physical health, and that acts of kindness to the sick are rewarded in this life and the next.
Hinduism - Hindu scriptures, such as the Katha Upanishad, teach that spiritual growth comes from humility and detachment, and that compassion for others—especially the sick—is a path to enlightenment.
Buddhism - Buddhism teaches that all beings are interconnected, and that compassion (karuṇā) is a core virtue.
Ascend Hospice serves many facility patients, many of whom do not have family visiting. If you have time to give to others, please consider this way of helping. Reply to this post to start the conversation about getting involved.
