Kids get plenty of science festivals - so we make something for adults, for them to play.
taste of science is an events series and annual festival dedicated to bringing scientists to meet local communities in their favorite places. We are a national organization with community roots. Hardworking, creative and passionate people dedicated to making science more accessible to everyone.
As a volunteer you would be working to connect your local community with the exciting and valuable research being carried out at institutions in Tampa Bay.
We want to engage people where they enjoy going to hang out. This might be their favorite brewery, or a family friendly event at a park.
This is a great opportunity in which to learn and develop skills in science communication that include networking, web management, project management, and social media presence.
We are currently looking for a leader to re-launch our St. Pete chapter beginning with recruiting a team to fulfill the roles of:
- Speaker Liaison
- Funding Manager
- Event Lead
- Social Media Manager
- Publicity Manager
- Web Manager

With regard to your interests, would you, for example, want to learn more about science communication? Are you driven by community engagement in STEM? Or maybe you’re keen to improve science literacy?
Right now, as a result of the pandemic, we are slowly starting to rebuild our teams with the aim of getting back to in-person events for 2022, although we will continue to have remote work opportunities. We would be happy to explain further how our organization works and answer any questions you may have about volunteering.
