    Menstrual Hygiene Trainer/ Educator

    Job Summary:

    The Menstrual Hygiene Educator / Trainer is responsible for delivering training and awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene management (MHM) to the primary school girls and boys, teachers, parents, and community members. The goal is to improve menstrual health literacy, break taboos, promote positive attitudes, and ensure safe and hygienic menstrual practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Conduct interactive and age-appropriate menstrual hygiene education sessions in schools and communities.
      • Facilitate workshops with adolescent girls (and sometimes boys) to improve knowledge, comfort, and confidence around menstruation.
      • Train teachers, peer educators, and community leaders to sustain MHM education locally.
      • Develop or adapt culturally sensitive training materials, visual aids, and IEC (Information, Education, Communication) content.
      • Train the girls, teachers and parents on how to make reusable sanitary pads.
      • Distribute menstrual hygiene materials (pads, reusable kits) and provide guidance on their safe use and disposal.
      • Identify barriers to menstrual health (taboos, school absenteeism, lack of products/facilities) and help implement local solutions.
      • Educate the firls and boys about personal body hygiene and the sanitation of the environment they live in.
      • Collect feedback and maintain records on session attendance, participation, and outcomes.

    Skills:

      • Experience working with adolescents or in community engagement or health education.
      • Knowledge of menstrual health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and gender sensitivity.
      • Strong facilitation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to create a non-judgmental, inclusive, and safe learning space.
      • Proficiency in English.

    Desirable Competencies:

      • Empathy and openness when discussing sensitive topics.
      • Creativity in using drama, games, or visuals for engagement.
      • Basic knowledge of sexual and reproductive health education.
