Join a dedicated group of volunteers sharing the history of the United States as witnessed through the eyes of six generations of descendants of Martha Washington and the enslaved and free people who lived and labored at this National Historic Landmark.
Docents provide high-quality public and group tours of Tudor Place’s historic house Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tour length is 45 minutes to 1 hour. Docents are expected to volunteer for at least 4 tours per month. Docents receive in-depth training that includes content about the organization, site, historic context and best practices for educating visitors of all ages. Additionally, time for research and shadowing tours facilitated by experienced staff and docents is built into the training program.
New docent training is on a rolling basis with in-person and asynchronous training.
