Calling for Volunteers in Greece - Wildfire Prevention and Community Resilience
Detalhes
Descrição
Every summer, communities across Greece face the growing threat of devastating wildfires. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, and strong winds have intensified fire seasons, destroying forests, homes, farms, and wildlife while forcing thousands of people to evacuate. Small community organisations and local volunteers play a vital role in helping communities prepare before disasters strike and recover afterward.
This is not passive volunteering. This is practical, community-rooted action where your contribution helps build safer, more resilient communities.
As a V4C volunteer in Greece, you will work alongside local partners to promote wildfire awareness and preparedness. Activities may include delivering community education sessions, supporting environmental clean-up and tree-planting initiatives, assisting with preparedness campaigns, distributing educational materials, helping organise community resilience events, and documenting activities to support programme learning. You may also support local recovery efforts where appropriate and safe. These initiatives align with Greece's increasing focus on community resilience and climate adaptation.
Your role is active, visible, and meaningful. Every conversation, awareness session, and community activity contributes to reducing wildfire risks and strengthening local resilience.
🤝 You Belong Here
We are looking for volunteers who care about environmental protection, climate action, and community service.
Whether you are new to volunteering or already have experience in environmental or community projects, V4C provides the training and support you need. Greek language skills are helpful but not required, as volunteers work in diverse teams. Orientation on safeguarding, community engagement, and wildfire preparedness will be provided before deployment.
We are seeking individuals who are proactive, compassionate, and eager to learn while creating lasting impact.
