The Brazos Valley Literacy Coalition (BVLC) really needs ESL volunteers this semester!
The way the ESL program works is like this:
Students are assessed and then leveled into one of two groups, beginning and intermediate. (Pending student enrollment, we might add an advanced class with conversation only).
You can join any teaching team or student level that you feel comfortable with. You do not need to speak a foreign language.
However, if you do speak Spanish, we could really use your help with the very beginning class.
Each student group is assigned a team of 2 or more teachers. This works well because if one of the teachers in the group cannot be there, the class can still go on with the other teacher.
BVLC provides all the materials and training you need.
Classes run during the fall and the spring term. ESL classes are from 9:45-11:45 am every Saturday except for holidays and school breaks.
Thanks so much for being willing to help with the adult literacy program!
The students will be so grateful.
